Phase 6 of 6 · Weeks 73–78
Phase 6 — Production, Research & Capstone
Ship something real, monitored, and public — the project you point at when someone asks what you can build.
What you'll be able to do
- Track experiments and version data so a result can be reproduced months later
- Deploy a model to a real endpoint with sensible latency and cost budgets
- Detect data and concept drift before your users do
- Scope an ambitious-but-feasible project against a measurable success bar
- Ship a public, documented capstone that stands on its own as evidence
What you need before you start
Assumed on day one
- Phases 1–5, or equivalent working experience
- A model of your own worth deploying
- Git fluency and comfort on the command line
Taught here — not assumed
- Experiment tracking, model registries and data versioning
- Model serving, batching, autoscaling and latency budgets
- Monitoring, drift detection, shadow deployments and gradual rollouts
- Project framing — success metrics versus vanity metrics, vertical-slice-first

- W77Capstone II — Build the End-to-End System
- W78Capstone III — Ship, Document & Present
What you'll build
- Experiment tracking and data versioning wired into a real project
- A deployed model behind a monitored endpoint
- A drift-monitoring dashboard for that deployment
- The capstone: a public repo, a one-page spec, and a defined quantitative success bar
Questions about this phase
- What counts as a good capstone?
- Ambitious but feasible, with a measurable success bar defined before you start and a vertical slice working early. The curriculum has you write a one-page spec — problem, users, success metric, data, three milestones, top risks — before any code.
- Do I get a certificate at the end?
- Yes — a verifiable certificate of completion with a public verification link. It is a certificate of completion, not an accredited qualification; the capstone repository is the stronger evidence.
